We have a passion for people, the Roanoke Valley, and our world. Our culture and leadership is characterized by worship, prayer, the love of God, and a genuine call to ministry. These core values have been shaped by the rich history of the Brethren In Christ church; always pressing forward in our call to love God and love others.
Pastor Darren has built his ministry on 2 Corinthians 5:11-21, a passage that speaks of God’s transforming power and ministry of reconciliation. Called by God while he was a young teenager, Darren has been serving in full-time ministry as an ordained minister for over 20 years. His wife and high-school sweetheart, Melanie, is a Kindergarten teacher who is very active in serving our children’s ministries and is a great encouragement to all she meets. Together with their twin daughters, Kristen and Kaitlin, they have served Community of Faith since 2003. We love them and appreciate all that God has sent them to accomplish with us and among us.
Rebecca has been playing the piano since the tender age of six. After 12 years of lessons, she continues to play daily and has blessed our ministry with her musical talent and leadership since Community of Faith was established in 1996. She married her husband Mike in 2001, and they have two children, Isaac and Ella. Our Sunday mornings are filled with a worshipful blend of contemporary Christian praise choruses and good old-fashioned hymns, hand-picked by Rebecca and inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Greg, his wife Maureen, and their two children Chase and Faith joined Community of Faith in 2011 after being called to minister in the Roanoke area from Saint Cloud, Florida. By trade, Greg is a software engineer, but spends his "free time" enjoying the outdoors with his family and friends, the occasional video game, and eating whatever new concoctions his wife discovers on Pinterest.
