We have a passion for people, the Roanoke Valley, and our world. Our culture and leadership is characterized by worship, prayer, the love of Jesus, and a genuine call to ministry. These core values have been shaped by the rich history of the Brethren In Christ church; always pressing forward in our call to love God and love others.
Pastor Jim was ordained and served in the United Methodist Church for 24 years, beginning in
1970. In 1996, he and his wife, Loine, were asked to plant a Brethren in Christ Church.
Community of Faith Church was born in October 1996 under their guidance. From 2012-
2018, Pastor Jim stepped away to serve at St. John Lutheran Church, then returned in
January 2019 to Community of Faith to continue his work here. In June of 2019, he will begin his 50th
year serving as a pastor.
Rebecca has been playing the piano since the tender age of six. After 12 years of lessons, she continues to play daily and has blessed our ministry with her musical talent and leadership since Community of Faith was established in 1996. She married her husband Mike in 2001, and they have two children, Isaac and Ella. Our Sunday mornings are filled with a worshipful blend of contemporary Christian praise songs and good old-fashioned hymns, hand-picked by Rebecca and inspired by the Holy Spirit.
